We presented Vijay and his trio last season. They were glorious. And if events followed their usual course, it would probably be a few years before we brought them back.
Except a few months before this first concert, I received Vijay’s then latest CD, Solo. And somewhere around the seventh note of the first track, I was so totally absorbed that I had to remind myself to breathe. Paperwork was pushed to the side, feet were kicked up, and time stopped.
When it was over, I called Vijay’s agent, and we booked the Solo show for almost a year to the date after the Trio show (which at that point hadn’t happened yet). Those of you who were with us on March 19, 2011 know what we’re talking about. The rest of you should do yourselves a big favor -- mark March 10, 2012 on your calendars now.
