I am glad that you enjoyed the show; Judy’s voice is certainly still beautiful. The relative lack of younger people at the concert is due in part to both variables you brought up. An artist like Judy is, of course, going to cost more. Additionally, fewer and fewer artists draw across generations.
This year’s season will most certainly provide some nice “surprises and discoveries,” and we are glad this is something you value, as we believe it is an inherent part of our mission. We hope you noticed our announcement before Judy Collin’s performance about the Alverno students documenting audience response via video (which is what you are responding to within this post). We hope you find our student with the camera at one of our next shows, as clearly you have some insight and history with the program. We would love to get your response.
We provide Alverno Students with greatly discounted tickets and also a program called 3 for Free. If three Alverno students arrive together and have their IDs, all three get into the show for free. We certainly want them to be a part of the series and thank you for the compliment.
Judy is a great performer. And if young audience doesn’t want to attend her shows, they probably don’t understand her and her talent. They need to mature and improve their taste.

Although I and my mother enjoyed the show, Judy Collins still has a beautiful voice, I could not help but notice the lack of younger faces in the audience. I’m not sure if it is due to the performer or the cost of the show. I hope to see more Alverno Students at the concerts to come. I do look forward to the “suprises and discoveries” Alverno’ usual eclectic mix provide. And I always look forward to the “Meet & Greet” which was unfortunately lacking after this performance. However,which I realize that this is likely to be the case when one sees “established” performers.
I hope that Alverno Students receive a substantial discount off of the ticket prices. In the past, I used to buy 2 season tickets and give away the extra ticket. (It helped to hook my brother and wife into becoming subscribers.) Unfortunately, I cannot afford it under the new pricing structure. I hope that it works so that the “Series” continues to survive. It is a gem!
